Bartie Stagg is a visionary entrepreneur with a passion for agriculture and a commitment to community development. His journey into the world of business and philanthropy is marked by a series of transformative experiences, culminating in the establishment of Demeter Ghana Ltd and the subsequent venture into the world of artisan woven products.

In 2015, Bartie Stagg made a life-changing decision to move to Ghana. His mission was to co-found Demeter Ghana Ltd, a pioneering agricultural input company aimed at revolutionising the agricultural landscape in the region. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, Demeter Ghana quickly emerged as a leading player, contributing to the growth and prosperity of local farming communities.

During his time in Ghana, Bartie Stagg not only excelled in his role as a co-founder but also found love and companionship. He met Clemmie, his future wife, and together, they forged a bond grounded in shared values and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world around them.

One aspect of Ghanaian culture that captured Bartie and Clemmie's hearts was the rich tradition of artisan woven products. The intricate craftsmanship and vibrant designs of these products spoke volumes about the skill and creativity of the local weaving communities. Recognising an opportunity to connect these talented artisans with a global market, Bartie and Clemmie envisioned a business that would showcase the beauty of Ghanaian craftsmanship and contribute to the economic empowerment of the weavers.

The year 2020 brought unprecedented challenges with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Bartie Stagg saw an opportunity amidst the crisis. With international travel restrictions and a surge in demand for unique, handmade products, Bartie and Clemmie decided to venture into importing and selling Ghanaian artisan woven products to the UK.

Their business model was not just about commerce; it was about creating a bridge between cultures and communities. By importing these exquisite products, Bartie and Clemmie aimed to provide a sustainable source of income for the weaving communities in Ghana, especially during challenging times. This endeavour was a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstration of their commitment to social responsibility and ethical business practices.

Bartie Stagg's journey from co-founding an agricultural input company in Ghana to spearheading a venture that promotes longstanding traditional craftsmanship is a testament to his adaptability, creativity, and dedication to making a positive impact.
